Ramen is delicious. For Japanese, ramen is easy to eat, warms the body, and makes you fall in love when you leave Japan. I became pregnant when I was living in Beijing, China, but when I was having a morning sickness I just wanted to eat ramen. I would like to talk about ramen with foreigners.
Foreigners love ramen, too
The word RAMEN works internationally
In fact, Japanese ramen is popular all over the world. Certainly, if you want ramen, you can find it in China and Korea, but Japanese ramen is also popular overseas. Therefore, the word ramen is becoming known throughout the world.
Each region has different taste
Speaking of ramen, there are various flavors. Speaking of instant ramen, there are miso ramen, soy sauce ramen, and tonkotsu ramen, but in fact ramen has different flavors in different parts of Japan.
For example, many people have the image of miso ramen in Sapporo, Hokkaido, soy sauce ramen in Tokyo, and tonkotsu ramen in Kumamoto. That’s why Japanese cup names are written on cup ramen sold overseas. Ajisen Ramen, which originated in Kumamoto, is also popular in China, and Tonkotsu Ramen Instant is sold as a “Japanese style pork bone surface”. Unfortunately, Japanese Tonkotsu Ramen is the difference between …
It’s difficult for foreigners to eat RAMEN?
They cannot slurp noodles
Moreover, depending on the country, eating with this noise may be a violation of manners. My husband is from Europe, but after all he said he didn’t mind Asians slurping noodles but European people generally might consider it as rude. Of course, at least in Japan, it’s no problem to eat that way, but it may not be the same for everywhere.
They can’t eat it with chopsticks
Ramen is known as Asian, so some foreigners use chopsticks to eat ramen. But think about it. If you couldn’t slurp noodles, can you eat ramen with chopsticks?
In fact, eating ramen with chopsticks is based on the assumption that people slurp it. Of course, some people may eat it with chopsticks even if they don’t do so, but that requires training.
For this reason, many foreigners cannot eat ramen well. The same goes for my husband, but when I ask, “Do you use a fork?” he never shook his head vertically, so I try to pass a large spoon with chopsticks. I would like to eat with noise, but I usually put noodles on the spoon so I don’t need to make noise as much as possible and do not need to embarrass him.
Tan tan ramen is really RAMEN?
Tantan ramen came from Sichuan
In Japan, Tantan noodles are sometimes regarded as a type of ramen. Miso ramen, soy sauce ramen, tonkotsu ramen, tandan noodles, etc.
Needless to say, Tantan noodles originated in China, not in Japan. Born in Sichuan Province, which is especially famous for spicy foods, it is loved as a noodle dish with minced meat and vegetables. However, Tantan noodles are arranged differently in each region, so they are completely different from region to region.
Its noodles are slightly different
When you ask for Tantan noodles in China, they often come out with thick noodles that are about half the size of udon. In Japan, it is treated as a type of ramen, so it comes out as thin noodles like ramen, but in China it is common for noodles to be thick.
Needless to say, the Chinese noodles are spicy and more spicy than that of Japan. Unfortunately, I have never eaten Sichuan Tandan noodles, but it’s probably hard to imagine.
Each region has difference
If you go abroad, Japanese miso ramen and soy sauce ramen are certainly popular, but you can also eat local ramen. For example, if you go to the United States, you will find beef and chicken flavored ramen. Chicken taste is not the same as chicken ramen.
If you see ramen overseas, why not try it? Of course, there are things that Japanese people don’t like, so you may think that they are not delicious. However, local ramen will be worth trying.
