Want to Boost Up Your TOEIC Score? How to Solve that Problem for Reading (part 5)

The TOEIC strategy series has finally entered the reading part! TOEIC reading part is 100 questions. Part 5 introduced here has 30 questions, accounting for approximately 30% of the reading part. Because it is a short sentence filling problem, it is ideal to solve it within 20 minutes. Then I will introduce the special training method I practiced.

Read the answer aloud

To be honest, when I was at the TOEIC 500 point level, even if I looked at the problems, there were a lot of stuffy things and I didn’t feel very motivated to do the exercises. So I started reading aloud the answer to part 5 of the collection.

 First read carefully

Read aloud! It ’s good that I ’m enthusiastic, but I do n’t know the meaning of the words in the first place. I couldn’t practice reading aloud, so I read the answer text carefully. I look up words that I don’t understand and write them in a notebook, but the important thing is to make sure that you remember the words you wrote in the notebook.
I was practicing the rule of “review word memos written by yesterday once a day” along with a plan to read 10 questions Part 5 carefully per day. Also, since I read it carefully, I wrote down my knowledge of English in the commentary in a notebook and reviewed it with the words every day.

 And practice reading aloud

When you have finished reading carefully, the next step is reading aloud. The point is to value the “awareness” gained by reading aloud. There is the expression put my feelers out. Feelers are tactile sensations. Tactile sense → It means that the antenna should be stretched. When reading aloud, don’t forget to keep the antenna like this!

For example, Customer reviews indicate that many smart phone applications are complicated.
(According to customer reviews, many smartphone apps are complex)

If there is a sentence like this, you may notice that the next verb indicate does not have S because it has reviews and S at the end. If you cherish this, you will be able to confirm your knowledge!

Check different words depending on prepositions!

In English, there are words that have different meanings depending on the preposition that follows. If you can capture this, you will not only be able to deal with the vocabulary problem in Part 5 but also improve your English!

 Talk usage

The method is very easy. For example, if it is the word talk, just look it up in the dictionary. Then it is clear how the meaning differs depending on the preposition.

talk to ~ talk to

You can see that there are many ways to use the same word.

 How to use take

Some idiom words are like take.

take A in B

2. Keep the part of speech properly
